These terms govern your use of AETHER, a tier-list ranking service operated at getaether.uk. By using the service you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use it.
AETHER lets you rank games, films, TV shows, books, music, and other items into tiers via pairwise comparisons. The free tier is fully functional with a 3-list cap. The Pro tier ($4 per month, billed by Lemon Squeezy) unlocks unlimited lists, AI taste analysis, image uploads, custom themes, and additional export options.
We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We try not to break things people rely on, but we don't promise any specific feature will exist forever.
You can use AETHER anonymously (data lives in your browser) or sign in via Steam OpenID. By signing in you confirm you control the associated Steam account. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
You are responsible for the security of your Steam account. If you suspect unauthorised access to your AETHER data, email [email protected].
Use AETHER for personal ranking, sharing with friends, public discovery, and legitimate discussion. Do not:
We may remove content that violates these rules and suspend accounts that repeat violations.
Pro is billed monthly via Lemon Squeezy. The first payment unlocks Pro features immediately and recurs on the same day each month until you cancel.
Cancellation: Cancel any time from the Lemon Squeezy customer portal (link in your receipt email). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro access until then.
Refunds: For users in the EU and UK, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of your first payment, provided you have not consumed significant Pro features during that window. To request a refund, email [email protected]. Outside the EU/UK, refunds are at our discretion; we generally honour requests within 14 days of payment if the service hasn't been used materially.
You retain ownership of the rankings, descriptions, comments, and images you create on AETHER. By marking a list as public or posting a comment, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display that content within the AETHER service and in social-card previews of public URLs. We do not claim ownership and do not sell your content to third parties.
Cover images for games, films, etc. shown in the interface come from the respective platforms (Steam, TMDB, OpenLibrary, MusicBrainz). Those images remain the property of their respective owners.
The AI taste analysis feature uses Anthropic's Claude API. Recommendations are generated based on the public titles in your list and are statistical guesses, not professional advice. We don't guarantee accuracy, originality, or that recommended items actually exist; treat the output as a suggestion to research, not a verified fact.
We aim for reasonable uptime but the service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We may go down for maintenance, outages on Cloudflare, or other reasons outside our control. We are not liable for data loss caused by browser issues, localStorage clearing, or upstream Steam/TMDB/etc API changes.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of AETHER is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose (which is zero for free-tier users). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as fraud or gross negligence).
You may stop using AETHER at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these terms, repeated abuse, or legal reasons, with reasonable notice where possible. On termination, we delete your account data within 30 days unless retention is required for legal reasons.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page and, where reasonable, notifying active users. Continued use of AETHER after a change indicates acceptance.
